Staff

About Us

Professional Staff

To ensure a warm, loving, caring atmosphere for our children, Rock Creek Academy selects staff with outstanding credentials and teaching talent. All teachers and assistants are certified, hold degrees in education, or have professional experience in early childhood care.  Staff are fully trained in emergency First-Aid and CPR procedures, as well as participate in pre-service and in-service trainings each year.  Rock Creek Academy requires all staff to be fingerprinted and pass stringent background checks by local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Quality Programs

Through the use of stimulating visual, motor and auditory materials, our staff help children discover the joys of learning.  This early, positive experience is a lifelong asset for your child.  Our planned educational program includes a variety of challenging experience in reading readiness, math, literacy, language arts, science, music and social awareness.

Programs
Infants

Infants and Toddlers

Our infant and toddler center, opened in 1991, is uniquely designed with spacious, brightly decorated rooms.  It is the ideal environment for helping infants and toddlers develop gross motor skills and to receive quality, loving care from our staff.

Preschooler Programs

For children three to five years old, select a 3 or 5 day per week program, with half or full day duration. Daily activities are carefully planned to develop math and reading readiness skills, number and letter concepts, verbal skills and many other key skills for your child's future.

Voluntary Pre-K (VPK)

VPK is a state-funded program that entitles each child 540 instructional hours during the school year.  It is offered to all children that are 4 years old by September 1st and has specific guidelines that must be followed to be entitled to the funds.  Give us a call today if you want to learn more.

After-School Care and Special Camp Programs

Rock Creek Academy provides convenient pick-up service at local elementary schools.  We have our own vans, certified drivers and require all children to wear seat belts.  Teacher-supervised homework time is provided daily. Supervised social and educational activities are also provided, including arts and crafts, sports, and more. Summer camp is also offered for children who have completed kindergarten and up to fifth grade.

Music and Dance Enrichment Programs

One of the most important benefits of dance in young children is to physically develop these skills. Children learn range of motion, balance, coordination, and endurance.  They begin to understand the possibilities of movement are endless and fun to explore.

Children have the opportunity to learn in a comfortable social setting. They learn how to work as a group. They also learn how to cooperate, share, understand space, interact, and to perform. They learn that communication can be taught through movement.

Through the Art of Dance, children learn to be creative and to express their emotions, which helps to develop emotional maturity. Children learn in different ways and at their own pace. They become more self-confident throughout their dance experience.

Here at Rock Creek Academy your child/children are our Number #1 priority. We want to insure they are receiving the Best of Care and offer a developmentally designed program that will enhance a young child's ability to learn and grow.

Health and Safety

Rock Creek Academy takes the health and safety of their students and staff very seriously.  Since 1984, we have strived to maintain the safest environment possible, while providing our students with a loving and well-balanced education. We take the appropriate steps to implement all childcare procedures as they are directed from our licensing officials as well as our state and local officials.
